.au direct domain registration will launch 24 March 2022!

Some quick answers to questions you may have:

Can I purchase or reserve a .au domain name before 24 March 2022?
No. You/we will need to wait until 24 March 2022, however the domain name may already have been reserved for you, please note the next question.

How do I check if my .au is already reserved for me?
auDA have now released a tool you can use to check this. Please see their tool here: https://www.auda.org.au/tools/priority-status-tool
Provided you are the current registrant of the corresponding .com.au domain, it will already have been reserved for your registration. You will have 6 months to decide to register the .au version of your domain name. There is no rush to register/claim your corresponding .au domain name on 24 March 2022.

When can I register a new .au direct domain (not a reserved domain)?
On 24 March 2022 we will open registrations for .au direct domains. We will be offering an introductory special price on all .au direct domains of $12 for the first year. After that the pricing will revert to the regular price (currently $23). Read more About .au direct domain names here.

How do I register a .au direct domain name?
You can register domain names with us here. It would be best to login to your account with us first so all your details do not need to be entered again. When applying to register a reserved .au domain, please be sure to use the correct ABN (the same one used on your corresponding .com.au domain name).

If you have any other questions, please reply to this email or open a ticket with us. While we are doing our best to keep you informed on .au direct domain changes, please ensure you also do your own research regarding eligibility etc directly with auDA here: The .au direct priority allocation process and The .au direct launch
